Rising Star Boarding & Grooming

I had an appt to view the kennel before I brought my dog, and there was no one there. The property was very run down, and in a state of disrepair. I was already not happy when told I couldn't see the kennels when I came to view the facilities, when that would be my main focus. I wanted to give it a chance because the website sounded good and it was close to where I lived, but nope!! It's also a bad sign when the owner answers negative reviews with anger and blame, and altho I followed the directions on the website, says I never made it to the kennel, altho I took a pic from the road of the sign, which isn't illegal!! Stay far away from this kennel. My baby stayed at Gillette in Galesburg.

DO NOT USE UNDER ANY CONDITION! Our poor dog came back covered in urine and feces. He was grossly dehydrated, had lost weight and was not acting himself. Took days for him to recover from whatever happened there. Everything you fear at a kennel!

Could not have been more disappointed in our first kennel experience! We left our 6 month old Bernedoodle Fri-Sun. He almost dragged her to the kennel area by leash and collar, and wouldn't allow me to accompany them. When we arrived to pick her up, she was not ready, her bed was SATURATED with urine (she is potty trained!) No explanation or apology or even a bag to place saturated bed in! Dog was starving! Ate tons of food and water when we returned! Owner was not very professional and we will not be returning!

My dog Oberon was well taken care of when he was boarded here for 2 weeks. He is a nervous dog and often acts stressed out after boarding BUT -- he was happy as a clam after staying here. The owners seem very genuine and friendly and clearly love dogs. I plan to use them again!

We took our 1 year old beagle in for boarding for the weekend.. hugo did a very good job with him during the drip off and keeping us informed with texting when we asked. One thing I really appreciated was that, even though I forgot to mention it until a couple hours before we picked him up, they were able to get Bilbo's nails clipped for us! We will definitely be returning!

Our first time boarding with Rising star last week. I was so impressed with how clean the kennels are kept. They are also very spacious. The owners are very friendly and it’s evident that they love dogs! I’m so thankful to find such a great place.
