Hounds Town - Dumbo

My 7 month old Ava loves Houndstown. I was very scared to leave her for Thanksgiving, but Justine and company convinced me she was in good hands and they were right! Also had my Mom along with me in evaluating doggy day cares, and it means a lot to say Houndstown met the high bar my Mom sets for doggy day care. You can tell that everyone who works there loves dogs and is passionate about having this doggy dream grow and prosper! I am OCD about the care my moon and stars Ava gets and she loves to play with other puppies there. They may not have the big screen TV that other places offer but this place understands that as much as humans try to morph dogs into humans, dogs are dogs and need what dogs need to be happy, not what humans think they need! I also love that you can walk in without being buzzed in, feels more welcoming and friendly. I just hope the scummy landlord gets the message that this doggy day care is beloved and essential to the community and will stop the meritless litigation draining the coffers.

Our dog, Orson, absolutely loves his second family at Hounds Town! He gets excited whenever we tell him he’s going to spend the day or night with his friends. They always take great care of Orson and we never feel like we need to worry whenever he spends any amount of time in their care. The friendly and attentive team always greets us warmly and has rubs and scratches for our little bear. Can’t say enough about the consistently positive experience we’ve had over the last few years! Justine, Luca, Riley, and everyone else on the team whose name I can’t remember (sorry guys, you’re all amazing!) have built something truly special in DUMBO and we are so thankful for everything they do!

Boarded our Stormy w/Hounds Town Dumbo & we had no doubt that he enjoyed the experience because he kept trying to run back in when picking him up! We loved how they regularly posted IG stories that allowed us to see him + the other dogs having fun & being cared for. Helped us really enjoy our trip knowing he was being taken care of ❤️Def our new go-to Boarding spot!

I AM OBSESSED. Every time we have tried to take our dog to a dozen daycares and she always come home traumatized. When we picked her up from Hounds Town, she was so happy!!! She also got groomed and they did the most incredible job! Our baby looked like a fluffy cotton ball!!! We are so relieved that we found a new play place and groomer for our baby girl Poppy!!!

Justine gave my dog the worst grooming haircut he’s ever gotten. The fur around my dogs nose was trimmed in such a ridiculous and terrible way it’s almost hard to describe. I’ll let the photo speak for itself. Justine would not acknowledge how uneven and chopped up the cut was and refused to refund me. She told me that I should have taken him to a "fancy groomer". I would have understood if she acknowledged the butchered job, but she would not. To me, that’s awful customer service. It will take about 3 months for this fur to grow back to blend in. Don’t take your dog to get a haircut here. Here are before and after photos.

Justine and her team groomed my sweet foster dog and did a spectacular job! Josie was nervous as she'd just arrived in NYC and I'd be surprised if she'd ever been professionally groomed in her life, but I picked her up looking gorgeous and in great spirits (she was cuddled up on the dog bed in their lobby, wrapped in a blanket!). Even her grooming was personalized as they kept her cute scruffy coat scruffy, just more glam. You can tell they actually care about the individual dogs in their care. Great new resource for pet owners in the area and I'll be back. Photo is her a few days after the grooming, still smelling fresh as a daisy!

After doing some research into the different doggie day care spots in Dumbo we decided on Hounds Town, and we're so glad we did! The staff are so warm and welcoming to the dogs - there's a real sense that everyone working there loves all of the dogs and truly cares for them. We brought our puppy in at four months old, and the staff were very careful to make sure he'd fit in with the other dogs and play well. Our pup absolutely loves going to Hounds Town - I'm pretty sure he'd live there if he could!
