Active! Dog Daycare and Boarding

We started with Active about a year and a half ago after getting our rescue pup and feeling nervous about keeping him active during winter months. We ended up leaving him enrolled in daycare a few days a week year round because the staff are so kind and caring and he would always come home completely zonked! Being a rescue, he was definitely a little timid of people but loved playing with all the dogs and slowly warmed up to the people who were so patient with him. Active also saved our lives when we went into labor early with our child and they quickly answered on boarding our dog however long we needed instead of bringing him home that day from daycare! Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the Chicago area!

Active! Dog Daycare has been a godsend for me and my pup for the past 7–8 years. My dog, Lu, just turned 14, and Alex and his team have been there through all of life’s ups and downs—from my broken ankle to Lu’s torn ACL and epilepsy. Let me just say this, I do not trust easily but I FULLY trust them. What sets them apart is that they genuinely care. Their prices are fair, they’re reliable, they’re always on time, and even during terrible weather they don’t cancel. Most importantly, they pay attention. Lu has never come home stressed, and unlike some other places, she’s never come home smelling like pee. I could go on, but nobody reads reviews that long. If you’re looking for a trustworthy partner to help care for your fur kid, give Active! a call. They’ve been amazing to us, and I can’t recommend them enough.

They did such a great job with our babies! The golden is really anxious but he seemed happy when we picked him up and his cut was great!

Honestly, I was really nervous about sending my male golden (neutered) to doggy daycare as well as using them for transportation. I did a ton of research and ended up on active’s page. It’s been three years of utter bliss. The staff is beyond amazing, every single one of them…seriously, I cannot thank you all enough. My pup, Butters, doesn’t even touch the floor leaping from the couch to the front door (it’s pretty far!) that is how excited he is…and he waits for them. He knows the time and days he goes and gets all excited. He comes home TIRED which trust me, he needs. Not sure if he’s chasing dog friends or following the people, either way he’s happy as can be and sleeps for nearly a day. The days the kiddie pools are out are his favorite, I am sure. He full plops in any he sees elsewhere so I am sure he’s hogging them a bit there! If you’re having doubt, don’t. Alex personally does a temperament check to ensure each dog is a fit which is such a nice personal touch! Extra plus: the adorable photos they post on Instagram!

Piper went here for many years, and they always took great care of her at daycare, even including the transportation to and from while I was at work! They usually could get back to me quickly about any change in plans or scheduling also. I appreciate all the time and care they spent with her!

The staff provides cozy beds so pups can snuggle with them through the night, and they also offer crates for dogs who feel more secure with a smaller den space for sleep. It’s clear they’ve thought of everything to make dogs feel comfortable and cared for. Daycare is engaging and well-run, and their boarding service gives us complete peace of mind while we’re away. Every time we pick them up, they’re happy, relaxed, and clearly loved.
