Supreme service. Owner Lissa is attentive, loving to all animals great and small. Facility is well.maintained and staff goes above and beyond
I would not recommend this facility, especially for anyone leaving a puppy while on vacation. Despite the name, this is far from a ‘retreat.’ The property had a very strong odor of dog waste, and overall cleanliness was concerning. I also observed what appeared to be a rodent problem, which was very alarming in a place caring for animals. My biggest concern was the level of care and professionalism. The owner was rude, used foul language, and created an environment that did not feel calm or appropriate for animals. I did not feel the animals were being managed well, and it gave me very little confidence in leaving a pet there. If you are looking for a safe, clean, and nurturing place for your puppy while away, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
I’ve had ongoing concerns about Best Friends Pet Retreat and Day Spa based on what I’ve noticed over time. The outdoor area often smells strongly like dog feces, which makes it seem like waste isn’t being cleaned up regularly. The smell can carry beyond the property, which raises concerns about overall cleanliness. I’ve also witnessed multiple loud arguments between the owners, including situations where police had to get involved. That kind of environment doesn’t feel appropriate for a place that’s supposed to care for animals. On top of that, I’ve seen situations where dogs didn’t appear to be handled properly. At times, it looked like people were put in charge of dogs they couldn’t safely manage. In one case, an older individual seemed to struggle handling a very energetic dog, which could easily become unsafe. Overall, these issues make me concerned about the level of care, safety, and cleanliness at this facility. It’s something I think should be taken seriously for the well-being of the animals.
This place should be shut down honestly. Always smells like decaying flesh poor dogs are always barking and screaming doesn’t sound good and the lady that owns the place is a very angry and unhappy person. I saw a little dog run across the street and brought it to them to see if it was theirs. The owner threatened to call the cops if I didn’t leave after she took the dog. I was just making sure it was going to the right place, no collar or name tag. I love dogs I feel bad for the ones that stay there.
I have no wish to bury these people, who are generally very nice and caring, but my dog got very sick after boarding there twice (didn't connect the dots on the first time until it happened again). Had to go to the vet and get antibiotics and it took some time to clear up. The second time was much worse (critical condition 24 hours after the initial sickness) and I had to put my dog down. Absolutely heartbreaking. Only writing this because I don't wish for any other animals to be exposed to this disease ridden place. It's just putrid.
Was going to leave a negative review for the owner cussing me out and throwing racial slurs for me mistakenly stopping in front of her business as I’m new to the area and was following the vehicle in front of me. I’m a physician and she kept saying I was trying to go to the pot shop on my way to Virginia mason. I have never met a more out of control and foul woman and by seeing the reviews here, it’s clear you’re an unhappy struggling individual. I wish you healing.
One of our family dogs died at this kennel. The poor communication from the kennel owner / staff during this period cannot be excused. To be fair, our dog had some serious health issues needing to be monitored during boarding. No call made to a vet and no call was made to us at the time our dog was having difficulty. Different stories were told after the fact to our family.
