Peninsula Pet Lodge

📍 Dog boarding in Gig Harbor

5.5

Peninsula Pet Lodge in Gig Harbor offers dog boarding and grooming services tailored to various breeds and needs. While some experiences highlight attentive care—such as personalized grooming and thoughtful staff interactions—others reflect inconsistencies in service quality. The facility’s self-service bath stations provide basic amenities, though accessibility and product variety may vary. For owners prioritizing reliability, verifying grooming standards and facility protocols in advance can help ensure a smoother experience.

The lodge’s boarding services have shown mixed results, with reports of both exceptional attention and occasional lapses in supervision or cleanliness. Staff like Samantha and Kelsey have earned praise for their dedication, particularly during special events like holiday celebrations. However, potential patrons should consider the age and maintenance of the building, as upkeep and accessibility may impact usability. A visit or direct inquiry about current staffing and protocols can clarify expectations for a stress-free stay.

I’ve taken my Australian shepherd here twice for a bath and full cut; the first experience great, the second was with a different "groomer" and was extremely upsetting and disappointing. We are contacting them today to ask to speak the owner. The first groomer did a great job, trimmed and cut her perfectly. My boyfriend took her in yesterday, 5/30/25, asked for the same cut as the first time but to trim the pants a little shorter and the sani area shorter. My dog came back fully clipped/shaved extremely short which is unacceptable for a double coat dog; I would be astounded if this "groomer" actually completed any grooming courses. I am now concerned with the health of my dog as the weather heats up due to losing the natural protective factors of her previous coat to prevent overheating. The "groomer" also wasn’t able to trim her nails and cited that my dog couldn’t handle it; I’ve never had a groomer fail to trim her nails. Lastly, she came back with a razor burn-like mark on her under belly, the "groomer" said this was there before which I do not believe. This "groomer" should not be allowed to groom again until completing additional courses and training. I don’t recommend this place for grooming.

I visited this facility to use their self service bathing station and I was extremely disappointed. Not only did the entire building smell like urine, but there was watered down shampoo to use (no selection of products as advertised) and the bathtubs were not easy access for older arthritic dogs. The front of the building also does not have a handicap or wheelchair accessible entrance, which made it very difficult for my dog to enter the building. We came towards the end of January and all of the holiday decorations were still up and the sign advertising the facility was broken and hanging by one chain. I told the front desk associate how disappointed I was and I still had to pay even though I received the equivalent of a water hose to use and about a dime’s worth of shampoo for my dog. Do not waste your money and do not subject your animals to this run down incompetent facility.

Our small dog was killed by a Husky while staying at this pet lodge. No supervision while the dogs are in the play yard. Only one person managing 15 dogs. Neglectfully ran business. Very rude owner. I only wish I had read the reviews from Yelp...My dog could still be alive today! They should not be in business!!!

The one and only time we boarded our animals here was a complete disaster. When we picked our cat, he was sitting in our carrier bag for probably several hours. He had pooped and peed all over himself and poo was matted to his butt. The facility took no responsibility for this negligent care of our cat. We will never use this facility again for any services. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

I'm very protective of our baby angel. Grateful for the excellent care she received during a 1 week stay at Peninsula Pet Lodge on Pt Fosdick Dr. A huge shout out to the girls there: Samantha & Kelsey. Job well done!

I only stopped in to use the self bath service and have not used the daycare/boarding services offered here so I cannot comment on those. However, the self baths were fairly nice, had good water pressure, but the nozzles for spraying my dog weren't too harsh which was nice. They have multiple shampoo options with good scents and all at an affordable price. I will return for the bath service again in the future as it is close to where I'm living.

It may be an old building, but the gal at the Gig Harbor location was amazing. Friendly and attentive. My Carolina dog had a blast, but my Frenchie did not. Samantha was honest about his stay and we do not blame the Lodge for anything. French Bulldogs can be high maintenance. They had snow-cones and a party over the 4th of July. I feel like they truly cared for my pets.
