Starting bringing my dog Obi-Wan to daycare a couple months back. Obi just loves it there he gets so excited to go! He doesn’t do super well with groups but they have a day boarding option which he just loves. I have boarded him there twice before and have received positive feedback on him. One of the times when he was boarding he peed on his toy on the way out and they offered to wash it and for me to pick it up next time. He gets so excited to see all the workers and I’m glad he has a place to get all of his energy out. I highly recommend!!
We signed up to use the indoor swimming pool, which is available for 45 min slots on Saturdays. It was so much fun! Our Shiba Inu loves to swim and had a great time using their facilities. We were able to bathe her right afterward in the same room. They had pretty much everything we needed - life jackets in all sizes, toys, and they provided towels. We brought our own shampoo and her favorite floating ball. If I had a preference, there would be a ramp to enter and exit the pool rather than stairs, but she'll get used to them over time. We brought a couple of friends of hers along, which was $5 extra per dog, I believe. It was reasonably priced, especially for the value the pool provides. We were impressed by the look and feel of the facility in general. We don't live on the same side of town, but will absolutely be repeat customers. It was so much fun and we know she'll enjoy it the more used to it she gets.
I boarded my dog for the first time EVER while I was out of town for a weekend. She had a bath, nail trim, and got to spend her days in daycare with the other puppies. It almost seemed like she didn't even miss me when I came to pick her up 😅 The staff members were very kind and I felt comfortable leaving her in their care for a few days. There is also cat and exotics boarding available, so all of your critters can be looked after if needed. Update: This has become my go-to place to take my dog when I need to go out of town. I used to get a little anxious having friends or family watch her for the weekend, but I feel comfortable leaving her in the care of Waggin Tails staff. Drop-off and pick-up are a breeze, and I love that she gets to exercise and play while I'm away ❤️
Our dog absolutely loves daycare here, and we’ve had a great experience with the overnight boarding and grooming services.
We've been boarding our dogs here for years and always love the experience. One of our dogs is diabetic and they always take such good care of her and make sure she eats and gets her insulin. Our other dog loves daycare and I appreciate the report cards to let us know how she does. Sometimes it is difficult to get a response on the phone, but we usually know our schedule pretty far in advance so I just book our next boarding when I pick up our dogs from their current boarding. I also love the new form for boarding drop off. It always took a long time to get our dogs checked in. I felt bad making people wait for us since we had two dogs and medications to sort out. And one of our dogs can be pretty reactive in smaller spaces. The form was great to get them dropped off quicker. If it could be adjusted to make it easier for instructions for multiple dogs, that would be my only suggestion. Overall I always recommend my friends board their dogs here whenever they're looking!
Waggin Tails vs another local dog day care vs Bloomsburg Doggie Playroom. My 16 month old female English bull terrier Sophie, has been to 3 dog daycare facilities for 1/2 days 2-3Xs / week since she was allowed (fully vaccinated). We moved from Pennsylvania to Madison over her 16 months. She has only gotten terrific reports on dog play activity, ability to read dog signals, and appropriately respond to both human and dog interactions, except by one daycare here in Madison and literally a mile from our home. This facility will not be hard to determine. Just look for the reports from owners who are perplexed by the "failing" of their dog to make the cut of membership in this facility. Worse yet, denial of entry is usually by message or when an owner calls to bring their dog in for another day of "trial" and is told "don’t come your dog isn’t a suitable fit". We had terrific report cards and then were denied for membership and continued services. No explanation as to why. Odd way to do business. We were thrilled to find Waggin Tails after our great experience with (PA) Bloomsburg Doggie Playroom and our unfortunate experience with Madison’s daycare. We are glad we had our first experience in Pennsylvania before running into the other or we may have given up on daycare. Bottom line. If a facility is vetting your dog too harshly go somewhere else. You will be pleasantly surprised. Most times it’s the humans and not the dogs at fault. For the judgmental place she visited briefly, if you happen to read this as you peruse your competitors, and this story sounds familiar? Do better! To Waggin Tails? Keep it up! We will miss you! Sophie is a better dog because of places and people like you!
At drop off I was assured that my dog would receive very attentive care over his nine night stay, even at one point claiming they would call to authorize treatment if he even had a broken nail. We opted to the bath before pick up as well as daycare all nine days of his stay for an additional price. On pick up they noted that he was overly loud during play, which is very unusual for our pup who frequents many of the busy dog parks around Madison and loves a good play time. Didn't think much of it since he's only one and it was a new environment. Five minutes down the road and I feel huge wounds on his neck and after further inspection he had scabs across several areas of his body. I have called Waggin tails and was told there was no note of any incidents during his stay, but even still how could someone have bathed him and not noted wounds that were an inch wide and up two three inches long. After asking these questions and being told they would get back to me I have never heard back and receive no return to my messages. My dog has visited the vet and they were concerned that several of the large wounds were in fact dog bites that did test positive for infection. The lack of communication and responsibility I have experienced with them makes me feel we will never return. There are other reviews noting similar experience with dog bites and wounds. I understand there may be times that they may not have had an eye on all the dogs activities, but the fact no one was able to identify these large wounds on my dogs neck and otherwise over nine+ days is inexcusable. On another side note, my 72 pound Golden Retriever gained ten pounds, confirmed by vet visits, during his time with Waggin tails which makes me overly skeptical to his inclusion in the play time that I had paid for.
