A Cut Above

I moved to Milwaukie over 10 years ago, and my oldest dog, a 4 lb papillon, has been a monthly visitor to A Cut Above for those entire 10 years now and my Aussie has been visiting montly for her 3.5 yrs of life, she drags both me and any dog walker to the shop ... They both love it there. Melissa does a fabulous job on both of my coated breeds, they come home looking beautiful every time. I trust her with my dogs 🙂

Excellent groomer who is so kind and gentle with the dogs. Conveniently nail trims walk ins wed-sun 2pm-5pm, too!

Just relocating to Portland I was in search of a new groomer for my long hair Himalayan cat who needs lion cuts semi-annually. Shortly after dropping my cat off, the groomer called saying that they couldn’t cut him (the groomer we previously took him to and the groomer after this experience had no issues with my cat) all while I could hear my cat wailing away in the background. I went to pick him up to find the hack job that had been done. Not only was my poor cat looking horrible, the groomer went on to say "if there’s any blood on him it’s probably mine". The only plus side was she didn’t charge. Do not bring your cats here as the service was clearly sub-par and unprofessional - she uses a blinder over their head which only terrifies the cat more. Experienced cat groomers do not need to use such an accessory. There were also dogs loose in the grooming area which obviously were going to set the cat even more on edge.

Always a positive experience! Charley (pictured) is not a fan of getting his nails done at home, but here, he's happy as a clam! Always accommodating, always friendly, and beyond affordable! Grooming services are top notch 👌 (Nail trimming service starts at 2pm)

Our dogs love the groomers here... and so do we. Our pets are part of our family. Finding someone we could trust was #1 ....and someone who would do a great job grooming them of course. Melissa and her team do all of the above. The name says it all "A cut above."

I have brought both my Pomeranian and Shih tzu to Melissa for over 10 years she is amazing! She is so kind and patient with my dogs and they always come out looking so cute with their new style! One of my dogs loves her so much we go down just to say hi and get a treat! Highly recommend!

Can't say enough positive things about a cut above! Always a great experience with our miniature Poodle. Melissa and Abby are always on time, courteous and professional. Abby really goes the extra mile to assure our satisfaction!
