A Cut Above Pet Stylists

📍 Dog grooming in New York

7.9

Address offers a range of grooming services tailored to pets with varying needs, though inconsistencies in execution have been noted. While some clients report satisfactory results, particularly in basic grooming tasks, others have experienced delays and miscommunication, impacting their overall experience. The use of specialized products, such as sensitive-skin shampoos, is emphasized, though occasional deviations from client requests have raised concerns.

Attention to detail in cuts and styling varies, with some pets leaving with uneven trims or unintended alterations. Customer service responsiveness and clarity in pricing—including additional fees for payment methods—can influence satisfaction. For pet owners prioritizing precision and communication, verifying expectations beforehand may be advisable.

If you want your pet to get ulcers in BOTH EYES FROM THE CHEMICALS IN THEIR SHAMPOO and spend 8 hours in the emergency vet with 2 weeks of treatment then feel free to visit a cut above.

My first time was very disappointing My Cavapoo got a good groom She was there for 5 hours! It was supposed to be 3 hours I called and texted and no one picked up or responded so I had to go there and wait! They are very expensive but the customer service part will not get me back there again And- they charge more for credit card use

I have specifically requested to use sensitive skin shampoo on my pup Nino, yet he came out sprayed with some kind of perfume. He is now suffering, rubbing his face against a rug. Why was this done without consulting me? Nino suffers from allergies and shouldn't be treated with that stuff, that's precisely why I have requested a sensitive skin shampoo. Moreover, why are you perfuming dogs at all? Dogs are descendants of wolves, they do not desire nor do they enjoy artificial, strong fragrances. Anyone who enjoys their pup being perfumed or perfuming them isn't ok and doesn't have the animal's well being as a top concern.

My dog's usually good haircuts at A Cut Above on W. 69th St. went awry yesterday. The hair around my dog's head and face was chopped up and ragged. Adding insult to injury, one of the groomers chopped off the hair at the end of his tail, so instead of keeping a soft, flowing plume it is now a straight, flat-ended brush. There is no dog on this planet that has a tail like that. I guess they did not understand the word "shorter." Right now there's a bigger problem: my dog is also rapidly shaking his head every few minutes, flapping his ears up and down due to some inner irritation or foreign body evidently acquired at A Cut Above as it started only 18 hours after we took him home, where we stayed the rest of the day. He is a very young and healthy dog, so this is an unpleasant surprise. We will be taking him to his vet tomorrow. She will confirm that this symptom did not exist before early Monday morning, and I pray she will be able to treat him. I made a video of his ear flapping, not shown here. I have this gut feeling that the groomers don't like to work on Sundays because they straggle in for the first appointments. Well, this report is to be continued.

Absolutely the worst. If you want your Labradoodle to be cut incorrectly, and as a result have damage to their skin and their coat, not to mention being completely overpriced then by all means go here otherwise… Run as fast as you can. There are plenty of other places that will actually understand and have the professionalism to realize how to properly cut a Labradoodle without affecting their coat and skin Unfortunately, now I have to live with this and treat my pet to specific medication which will hopefully regenerate the damage that has been caused to his what was once a thick and vibrant coat, and now is balding and thinning

Amazing job on my cat, Teddy. He hated the old groomer that I used to take him to in soho- very happy we made the change. He was a totally different cat (lion) coming home- very sweet and relaxed compared to his old demeanor with the past groomer. Highly recommended.

Our first time trying this groomer. I gave them this picture of my dog to show them what kind of cut he gets. He came back home looking like this. It’s only been 6 weeks since he was last groomed. His nails were cut so close they are bleeding. Don’t ever go here. Dreadful.
