Petco Grooming

My dachshund was a puppy when I took her to THREE different grooming businesses in the Rio Grande Valley. All three handed her back to me and said, "She will never be able to be groomed. You’ll have to take her to a vet to get her nails clips." Five years passed as $12 nail clippings and $22 anal gland expressions, at Banfield’s vet, went up to $25+ for nails clippings and $40+ for the anal gland expression… and I had to take her every 4-6 weeks. (Ridiculous and unjustifiable price increases.) So, I called Petco. Maybe new groomers could help? I called and spoke to Alexandria, a.k.a. "Alex."She responded with 100% confidence, "Yeah, I got her. You can bring her." I learned she used to groom dogs at Palm Valley Animal Society and that’s all I needed to hear. Anyone who grooms dogs at a shelter knows how to handle animals with fear and behavioral issues. That call took place over a year ago. ❤️❤️❤️ I now take my dachshund monthly for a basic bath that includes: nail trimming, anal gland expressions, ear cleaning, bathing and more for under $40, and I get additional savings because I signed up for the Petco membership. And, my dog graduated to being able to be groomed by a male, too! Saul and Alexandria "Alex" are my go-to groomers. They are wonderful. I’m forever thankful for them and I highly recommend them.

I've been visiting Petco Grooming for 5 years now with our Corgi, Peaches. Saul has been her groomer since day one and he is the very reason we haven't even considered leaving. Our pup struggles a lot with anxiety especially when cutting her nails, but Saul is so patient and kind. We love our groomer and local Petco.

Good service. I was running late to pick my dog up due to unforeseen circumstances. The groomer proceeded to leave multiple condescending messages on my voicemail. When I arrived she gave me a speech regarding not taking my dog to grooming unless I had time to pick her up as soon as she is done (she was done later than planned so I had other things at that time). Obviously, that was not by choice, she has no idea of everything that I had going on that day that prevented me from arriving on time and I owe her no explanation. I do not need to be scolded. Unfortunate that they consider this appropriate practice.

I liked the grooming services, but wished they took pictures of the pets afterwards like other grooming places. Other than that, I bought a lot of stuff from the store since I was already there. Not sure if they always have that much variety in beds but that was nice. I do want to add that they sell tapeworm pills without a subscription so I liked that too.

Saul and Alex are the best! Super friendly and professional. Rosco loves to go see them every three weeks for his pedicure!

I will never take my pet to this place again for grooming. I recommend you don't either. They didn't care about what I wanted, and they hurt my pet. The manager was very nice and did refund me my money but how can you fix what they did to my pet? A bad haircut is one thing but harming your pet physically is unacceptable. I now have to address a wound that my dog should not have gotten in the first place.

I was a excited for my chihuahua, Snowballita for getting her well deserved spa like treatment. However, I was a little disappointed she worn no purchased handkerchief and her nails didn't look trimmed. 😕 Consequently, I will only give 2 stars. Hopefully, next time she's wearing a handkerchief, which I usually pay for and her nails trimmed.
