Petco Grooming
Petco Grooming in Phoenix offers basic pet care services, including baths and haircuts, with a focus on convenience for busy owners. The facility handles a range of sizes, though experienced staffing limitations may occasionally affect service delivery, particularly for larger or anxious pets. While their quick turnaround can be appealing, inconsistencies in attention to detail and communication have been noted, potentially leading to rushed or incomplete grooming.
Transparency in pricing and service expectations is another area where improvements could enhance the experience. Owners should confirm staff availability and policies for handling specific breeds or temperaments beforehand. For pets requiring specialized care, alternative groomers may better meet expectations. Overall, the location serves as a budget-friendly option but may not consistently deliver the precision or compassion some pet owners seek.

You might want to think twice before you take your dog here to get groomed. 44th stree and Oak. I feel they are not very experienced at handling dogs. I booked my 50 lb dog for a full grooming She has been there in the past. 15 minutes later ,after we dropped her off we got a phone call to come pick her up. The girl we left her with was very tiny . She said she could not lift her in the bath. She said they're not supposed to groom a dog over 35 lb unless there are two people. They have her on file so they should have known that she was a medium sized dog and that she couldn't do it by herself. So she booked her for 2 days later when there would be two people there but she only booked her for a nail trim. Both girls could not even get her on the table to trim her nails. She is an anxious dog but definitely not aggressive . They referred us to somewhere else saying they would be able to muzzle her.The lady there groomed her by herself. NO problem whatsoever. She did NOT muzzle her. She said Petco deemed her a mean dog. The lady who groomed her said she does not know why they would say that because she said that dog is not mean. We won't be returning there with any of our animals in the future.
I’m still upset thinking about what happened to my dog, Yuki, at this Petco. I trusted them with her, and they gave her half a haircut, left her soaking wet, and then shut her in a kennel where she cried and barked nonstop for 30–45 minutes. Hearing her distress—and knowing she was alone, confused, and uncomfortable—broke my heart. What hurts the most is that she wasn’t treated with the basic care or kindness any animal deserves. She wasn’t comforted, she wasn’t finished, and she wasn’t even dried. She was just left there… scared, wet, and calling out for help. No explanation. No reassurance. Just neglect. I walked in expecting a simple grooming appointment. Instead, I walked out feeling like I’d failed my dog by trusting the wrong place. Petco needs to take a hard look at how they treat the animals in their care, because no pet—and no owner—should ever go through this. Last time she was out in less than an hour. This time the lady said 4 hours. She was there less than an hour you half cut her left for wet to cry for 2 hours before you decided to finish? Jesus Christ!!! How messed up this is. Photo was after we got home still damp.
Booked a full bath and haircut , I will take accountability for being 10 minutes late as it was hard to find parking. Arriving to the appointment the groomer was very passive aggressive . I gave her grace because I understood the inconvenience of pushing her schedule back. She did communicate they close at 5 and we agreed she’d do what she could within time frame. 4 oclock rolls around and his grooming hasn’t started , I checked in with the lady at the front desk to ensure they’d have enough time because I didn’t mind to reschedule. Long story short I feel his appointment was rushed and he was nicked. It’s unfortunate because this is only his second appointment ever and I voiced concerns about his first visit not going so well either which is why I chose petco this route. Overall the haircut is cute and appreciated but he’s been licking the cut non stop so I know it’s discomforting.
My husband dropped her off for grooming and asked for an overall trim. They informed him that they would need to charge a $10 de-matting fee. Upon pick up, we found that we had been charged a $10 de-matting fee, $10 for "luxury conditioner", and $5.98 for "petco materials fee", which were not disclosed. Additionally, when we got our dog back from them, she had been buzzed all over to about 1/4". I had brushed out her ears and body in advance of the appointment to de-mat. It is clear that they just buzzed her down but yet charged us for dematting services. Take your dog somewhere else.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE. Customer had a grooming service and dog was still damp and when they picked up the dog they argued that the dog wasn’t damp. Continued shopping and the groomer called the cops on the poor lady for no reason. She was still in the store shopping for her pet and hadn’t even gotten to the register to pay and they called the cops accusing her of rendering services. How can you render a service when you’re still in the building? Gave the girl a lot of anxiety and her poor dog. She paid for everything with the manager and they still banned her from the store. The entire thing was ridiculous. Absolutely unnecessary. I would never support a store that treats customers like this.
They did a great job giving my dog a haircut. All the groomers were very sweet.
I showed them pictures of what I wanted and what I didn’t want, they did exactly what I didn’t want. They assured me they would work on my dog right away and it would take less than 2.5 hours. At 2.5 hours I called and they told me she was just about done with another dog and about to start with mine, and that it’ll be another 1.5 hours. So my dog, who gets anxious at groomers, was sitting there for 2.5 unnecessary hours.
