Masterpiece Canine Spa

A true five star experience. I was so nervous to bring my rescue for his first groom and Abby immediately put me at ease. Every single step of the process was transparent, from the complimentary consultation onward. Theo was immediately comfortable with Lauren, who did a phenomenal job finding the Scottie under 10 months worth of fur! Communication throughout was unparalleled. For me, not having to leave my dog at a groomer for six plus hours, wondering how they’re doing and struggling to get in touch to figure out when they might be done, is of the utmost importance. Masterpiece is the only groomer in the area that assuages these concerns. It’s clear that Abby, Lauren, and the rest of the team take a lot of pride in what they do and truly have the best interest of the dogs in mind. Thank you all for making Theo’s first groom such a positive one! To address a concern in other reviews—I believe, sincerely, the pricing at Masterpiece is extremely reasonable for the services provided. I have yet to find another groomer in the DMV that provides a dedicated appointment time to one dog, texts questions and concerns immediately, and can also expertly craft a breed standard cut. You get what you pay for, and if you want personalized attention and professional quality, this is the price!

On my first visit to Masterpiece, I had a wonderful experience taking my two fur babies, Ginger and Canelo, for their regular haircuts. After waiting an hour, I was very eager to see them with their new haircuts, and they looked adorable. They take excellent care of them, which is essential for them to return happy. The staff is very friendly, they offer coffee in the waiting area while you wait for your pups, and importantly, they speak both Spanish and English.

We’ve been coming to Masterpiece for 4 years now and after having tried other groomers in/around the city as well as other states, I can confidently say they are the absolute best at what they do. Rachel & team have shown so much care for what they do - it’s hard to fully trust someone with your pet but they have earned my absolute trust from day one. I never worry if she’s taken care of, shown affection or if the cut is going to turn out well. We’ve never had an experience less than stellar. If you have a flexible schedule they also work with you to make sure you get an appointment ASAP. I can’t recommend Masterpiece enough - not only do they care about their work but they care even more about the safety and well being of your pet! I love that the service is hands on from start to finish - zero crate drying - so if you have an anxious pup like me, trust they will be loved when you aren’t around.

We have been going to Masterpiece for 2 1/2 years, since they were right down the road, and loved them so much we drove 20 minutes across town to follow them. They let our excited and overbearing German Shepherd come first thing in the morning to ease GSD anxiety and always texted us if there was a concern - which there never were (our pup just likes to pull towards other dogs to play and sing during his grooms:) We never had issues with a grooming product, cut, gland expression, etc. Case always was more than willing to be taken back. We will miss them so much!

Masterpiece is a name completely in line with what you get with this groomer. My pom Oliver is a cantankerous little guy, but they love him anyway and take extremely good care of him. His groomer Sharon always makes him look like a million bucks and as adorable as humanly possible. He also has severe tracheal collapse, so finding a groomer that will not wrap anything around his neck and keep him safe is a must and I absolutely trust him with them. Their policy of never kenneling any dogs is also a big plus, as anxiety can exacerbate his cough and ensuring he's not waiting around or left alone is crucial in containing his cough fits. You get what you pay for with groomers, and while Masterpiece isn't inexpensive, you WILL get the best groom you can get in the city. If you've got a dog like mine that has a lucious coat that needs lots of TLC and/or a dog with major health considerations, I highly recommend you come here. Your dog will get LOTS of compliments on walks.

I really liked Brittany the first time I came and she did a great job but I’m super disappointed this second time. The main reason is it looks like she cut my baby pretty badly and never said anything to me. The cut is several layers of skin deep and I just found it on my dog’s belly, days later. I get mistakes happen but you’ve got to tell an owner when you’ve left an open wound on their pet. My dog is only 7 lbs and without care, she could’ve gotten a serious infection. In addition, the owner came in hot with me when I came to pick up my dog, telling me I said something I didn’t and then going back through our texts (and her review confirmed I never said it) while I was waiting for Brittany to fix my dog’s face. I simply said it must have been a miscommunication, but it seemed like she was more interested in being "right." Not fun, especially since I was on a work call while trying to deal with her bc they have a strict no late pick up rule. I prefer Colby’s Dogcare and Spa on K Street. They consistently do a great job with my poodle mix and better customer service.

Hands down-the BEST grooming salon I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking my pup to. From the very first phone call answering my million and one questions, to the follow up texts and emails ensuring total understanding-Abby has built a business based on transparency, love, phenomenal customer service and skill. Lauren took care of my sweet Nina Simone, who had been previously traumatized when she was only 14 weeks, so now at 3 years old, I was skeptical and nervous that she would even last the entire groom-boy was I proven wrong! Lauren’s gifted hands transformed my scruffy girl into a glamour babe! My girl ran into the spa, had a verified smile on her face the entire time (as witnessed through video updates and pics) and came out looking fabulous! I’ve already booked her next appointment and I cannot wait to keep my puppy baby groomed, trimmed, and gorgeous. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May all you do prosper.
